Finally justice is served to finger lady.

Outraged and indignant for months, the woman who claimed to find a bit of human finger in a bowl of chili was none of that in court Wednesday morning.

Anna Ayala wept openly before a judge sentenced her to nine years in prison for concocting a scam that turned her into a tabloid celebrity, cost the fast-food giant millions of dollars and made Wendy's chili the punch line of a national joke.

In a San Jose courtroom packed with reporters and spectators, Judge Edward Davila also sentenced her husband, Jaime Plascencia, to 12 years and four months in prison for his part in the scheme and other unrelated charges. Both sentences were close to the maximum for the crimes.

``Greed and avarice overtook this couple,'' Davila said, ``and they lost their moral compass.''

Ayala, 40, and Plascencia, 44, appeared remorseful.

``I do take responsibility for my actions and offer my most sincere apologies, especially to Wendy's in San Jose and its employees,'' Ayala said haltingly while dabbing at her teary eyes with a tissue. ``I'm truly sorry.''

***Bravo!!! Wendys did not deserve this!!! Now maybe Long John Silver or something along those lines.
